All dogs are welcome to participate in the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Program, including purebreds and mixed breeds.

About the Class
The AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy is an exciting new program designed to get dog owners and their puppies off to a good start. This training class is a natural lead in to the AKC Canine Good Citizen Program.

Class covers the basics every pup should know, including:

Come

Walk on a Loose Leash

Go to your Spot

Requirements
An introductory course specifically for puppies under one year old who are just beginning training, providing your dog is up to date on shots (distemper and parvo, and rabies when 4 mo).
Do you have a dog over 1 yr old? You should take Basic Manners
Do you have a pit bull or pit bull mix? You should take Totally Pit Bull
Do you have a small dog? You should take Toy Dogs

Course Cost
The cost of this 5-week course is $120
Your dog will also receive a pass for Doga, or you can come to another AKC STAR Puppy class, for class #6 (AKC requires six classes to qualify for the STAR Puppy Program)

AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Test
When you complete this class, your puppy is eligible to be enrolled in the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Program. At the end of this 6-week course (5-weeks of training plus one Doga or another class), Victoria will administer the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy test. Upon passing the test, you'll get an application to send to AKC for enrollment in the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Program. You and your puppy will be listed in the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy records. In addition, you will receive the Puppy package that includes: a beautiful certificate designating your puppy is in the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy records at AKC; AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Medal; AKC Puppy Handbook; discount to enroll in AKC Companion Animal Recovery Corporation; ongoing monthly email newsletter (Your AKC).
