Therapy Dogs

Boo Halloween

paw Share the love! Therapy Dogs visit many places, including assisted-living facilities and hospitals, in order to bring joy to people who are unable to have a dog with them.

paw Therapy Dogs are not Service Dogs. They do not have the access and ability to accompany their owner into restaurants and stores.

paw If your dog is friendly, likes people and other dogs (you may come into contact with other dogs during your visits), likes new things, knows basic obedience, and is of sound temperament, he may be a good candidate as a Therapy Dog.

paw He must be up-to-date on vaccinations, groomed, and clean during visits. There are many organizations that will certify your dog as a Therapy Dog, including Therapy Dogs International, Therapy Dogs Inc, and Love on a Leash are three of the more popular ones.

paw Aim for your dog to become an AKC Canine Good Citizen, as this is the base for many of the Therapy Dog tests. You should also enroll in Dream Dogz Trickz, our trick dog training course, to learn awesome Therapy Dog tricks.

E-mail Dream Dogz for more information on training your Therapy Dog.
